To improve image quality for umbral measures, a digital camera (Kodak DC 250 Zoom) has been used with an 800 mm telescopic lens and 20 mm focal length orthoscopic eyepiece to produce the images below:

As a comparison the Sony Handycam TR511E analog video camera produced the following image:


Analysis

The digital image taken with a Kodak 250 Zoom above was saved as a *.pict file and measured with Image Analyst to provide a comparison with the similar measurements of video images. The umbral (phase) SD was 0.304 at 8, a little greater than the moon SD of 0.25 and the centres distance was 0.103 degrees.as shown below:
