Total Lunar Eclipse 2004 May 04

Digital Images

Byron Soulsby - Theodore Lunar Observatory

Observations of this eclipse was limited from First Contact to Second Contact due to my Observatory position. The Theodore Lunar Observatory is situated on the eastern side of Mount Tuggeranong and view of the western horizon is limited, hence imaging of this eclipse was restricted from 1C at 4h 47m am local time at an altitude of 21 degrees, to just before 2C at 5h 52m am at 9 degrees 20 miniutes altitude. The local time of moon set is 6:47 am.

Five digital images of this eclipse are shown below and one of totality from South Africa:

These images were taken with a Canon Ixus digital still camera at +1 exposure and with fluorescent white balance, attached to a Meade Super Plossl 20 mm eyepiece and Meade series 4000 filter ND96(0.9), fitted to a computer controlled Meade ETX-90 EC alt/az telescope.
